Hello

My name is Carolyn Hough. I enjoy helping all beings return to the activities they enjoy with Authentic Myofascial Release as taught by John F. Barnes.  John is the authority on Myofascial Release. He teaches to never force, wait patiently and intuitively for the releases while feeling through the fascia into the deepest layers that hold tension and pain. Releasing these areas help restore function on a cellular level thereby creating a longer lasting and meaningful change in your fascial. Treating your fascia helps return your body back to a pain free active lifestyle. Myofascial Release is not just treating and alleviating symptoms, its finding the source of pain by listening to your Fascial "Voice". No other system for Myofascial Release teaches this method. When looking for a Myofascial Release therapist be sure to search the John Barnes website for a qualified therapist

My Story

In August of 2009 I graduated from the New York College of Health Professions. As a second career I was very passionate about learning all I could.  I was quite happy with my 4.0 GPA and passing the New York exam with a 95 when half the class had failed.  My first year after graduating I spent working in my doctors office.  Seeing pain patients regularly I was noticing that some of the time I could only produce temporary results.  My clients loved me but I felt I could do more.  I felt I needed to add the yoga training I had and opened a studio.  The yoga helped me so much I thought this would benefit my clients by having access to some of the best teachers on Long Island.

Then I went to my first John F. Barnes series of classes in Las Vegas Nevada in February of 2012.  Taking MFR 1 & 2 and Unwinding.  I was there for 11 days giving and receiving Myofascial Release.  It was such an inspiring feeling learning about some of the successes they had that other therapies gave up on.  I also felt the best I had in a long time so realized first hand this stuff worked :)

While running my massage and yoga studio I began to implement some of the techniques I learned in the seminar and noticed a change in my clients stress and pain.  I then continued to take over the next few years all of the John Barnes seminars completing the requirements to become an "Expert" level therapist assigned by Johns' curriculum in August of 2019.  I continue to this day to take and repeat the classes as well as receive treatment in his sanctuaries in Sedona, AZ and Malverne, PA.

Prior to becoming a massage therapist I enjoyed an active lifestyle.  I owned my own horse and competed in events since I was very young, When I retired my horse I began Martial Arts training, which was another intense action sport adding to the injuries in my fascia, Having my share of accidents and injuries during this time left me with chronic neck and back pain. I am also a cancer survivor to which I feel lucky to have had this training to navigate my healing journey into remission.  Wow, life's infamous question, how did this happen to me?

My love for this work is truly my calling.
